В любой момент вспомогательные органы Совета - рабочие и экспертные группы - участвуют в реализации около 100 проектов и инициатив.

Текущие проекты направлены на предотвращение загрязнения, укрепление психического здоровья, предотвращение рисков загрязнения нефтью, управление биоразнообразием и морскими экосистемами и мониторинг изменения климата Арктики - и это лишь некоторые из проектов. Обладая этим значительным объемом знаний, Совет продолжает составлять всеобъемлющие циркумполярные оценки и доклады о проблемах и тенденциях, влияющую на окружающую среду Арктики и жителей Арктики.

Включение традиционных знаний и местных знаний имеет жизненно важное значение для изучения решений возникающих проблем в Арктикеи обеспечения наилучших имеющихся знаний в качестве базы для принятия решений. Активное участие Постоянных участников является одной из ключевых особенностей Арктического совета. Предпринимаются постоянные усилия по наращиванию потенциала в общинах коренных народов Арктики, чтобы он могли вносить вклад в работу Арктического совета.
